Budapest has a particular quality of light at night. The shop windows, the reflections on the pavement, the way the city holds colour differently after dark.
 
This piece was painted from sketches made on location, the kind of drawing that happens when a city stops you mid-stride and demands you pay attention. Budapest does that consistently.
 
It is part of a body of work exploring what cities look like when the humans step back — the space and light taking precedence over the people moving through it.
