This painting began with grief. Real grief, the kind that arrives suddenly and restructures everything.
The flowers and butterflies are painted anatomically correct because grief isn't abstract. It has weight and structure and it asks you to look at it directly. But butterflies don't stay in the dark, and neither do we.
Blooming petals of my blue flowers of sorrow Unfurl in a burst of instant disbelief. The wings of the butterflies pound gently in my ears And light my way in luminous pink hues of love.
This piece is for anyone navigating loss who needs a reminder that the way back to the light exists, not a promise it won't hurt, but evidence that the journey through is possible.
