This painting came from a dream. The dream was in French, the first time that had ever happened, and I understood most of it but woke up in emotional turmoil. The feeling of wanting to move somewhere, being afraid to, not having the language or the job or the pathway. Standing in the middle of a life you want but can't quite reach through the glass.
 
La Favorite is just down the street from the apartment.
The woman in the red jacket is surrounded by the world she moves through every day.
Her thoughts swim visibly in the fishbowl above her head.
 
Sometimes that's exactly what it feels like.
 
There is a song attached to this painting. The melody hasn't arrived yet. When it does the song will find its way here too.
