Belgium Poppies - SOLD
It was way too early to be woken up. Steaming coffee in his hand. "Do you want to go to Belgium?" All I wanted was a quiet week in Paris after two weeks of travel. He offered to buy me a coffee at the station. I asked what time we leave.
I was not the best traveller that day. Grumpy, undercaffeinated, needing a decent meal. The bus pulled into a gas station in rural Belgium and I spotted a smattering of flowers growing in a ditch across the road. I had never seen lavender and poppies growing in real life. I sat down on a concrete ledge and started sketching. My mood took a complete turn.
A Parisian artist in Brussels gave me the confidence to give watercolours another try. This was the result.
